Eurotrip - Day 1
Yes, i am now, FINALLY posting all about my trip...
Day 1, 17 July Singapore - London
The flight was at 0930 in the morning, and was at the airport by 0730hrs to check in. Got on the plane and was stuck behind a family with 2 kids. The only good part of it, is that we're the last few to board, and the first few to leave. The 14 hour flight was ok, until the baby started to cry and get fussy. It apparently puked all over, and some of it, i don't know how, got onto my sis' bag which was under the seat! There was a call for a doctor, and some chinese guy gave the baby a jab, which, thankfully, knocked it out for a few hours and calmed it down. Watched a million movies and a dozen comedies cause i couldn't sleep. Oh well. The food was good though...
Arrived at London Heathrow at 3 in the afternoon and took a bus to our hotel at "Marble Arch" (nope, not the one in France). Story behind the big hunk of marble in the middle of London, was that it was a gift to the Queen, but it wasn't wide enough for her carriage and entourage to go through, so they moved it from the palace (methinks Buckingham) to where it stands now at the end of Oxford street. Checked into the apartment, which was the basement of the apartment-hotel. Pretty spacious and affordable, at 150 pounds a night for 2 bedrooms, a living and a kitchenette.
Settled down some, and went off to walk around oxford street. Had coffee at Marks & Spencer, then waited for my dad's friend (Diana), who migrated to london, for dinner. Met her and her younger son Kevin, and took a bus to the restaurant. It was Hsing Chinese Restaurant (451 Edgware Road, London, W2 1TH; Tel: 01714020904) and serves really good chinese food! So all the horror stories about how bad chinese food in London is not really that true. Oh, and it also helped that Diana' husband was a chef there. heh. Went back to the hotel, then blah blah, you know the rest.
